The Junk Orchestra
Saul Eisenberg - Thursday all day
Saul Eisenberg did a BA hons degree in acting and music, and his percussion studies took him to Cuba, West Africa and Brazil. He has travelled the world as a drummer, actor, musical director and theatre practitioner, working for companies including Stomp, Punchdrunk, Unicorn Children's Theatre, London Bubble, Trestle Theatre, London Symphony Orchestra - and HMS Prison Service.
Saul runs workshops on the design and technology of instrument building, which focus on the foundations of percussive ensemble playing - analysing structure, polyrhythm and improvisation - and drawing from hip-hop, samba and West African influences. He also runs dance and fitness workshops.
The Junk Orchestra encourages participants to be creative and inventive; the instruments are made using recycled objects of all descriptions. The workshop draws its content from global percussive ensembles, storytelling, theatre and performance, and aims to raise awareness of everyday surroundings. The day will culminate in a fun-filled performance.
